ORTHODOXY 101

Orthodoxy 101 is a weekly class on Orthodox Faith, practice and spirituality. In it, we will cover the basics of Orthodox doctrine, learn how to live as Orthodox Christians, and gain some insights into Orthodox spirituality.

Our Priest, Fr Michael Butler, will be teaching the 13-week series. His bio is here.

The class will begin on Wednesday, 19 September, and wil be offered on Wednesdays at two different times:
   -- at 10:30 a.m., following the 9:00 a.m. Liturgy, and
   -- at 6:30 p.m., following Daily Vespers at 6:00 p.m.
You are, of course, invited to the services beforehand. (Occasionally the classes will be held on other days, due to Father's schedule or the liturgical schedule. All class dates and times are listed on the Service Schedule page, and on the calendar found there.)

Classes will run no longer than 90 minutes. Refreshments will be provided. There is no fee for the class, apart from the cost of books.

Books will include,
-- The Living God: A Catechism
-- Henri Nouwen, Reaching Out: The Three Movements of the Spiritual Life, and
-- Tito Colliander, The Way of the Ascetics

If you don't have the books, please follow the link on the left to our Shopping Portal, and then click on the a-Store link, which will take you to Amazon.com, where you can order them.

If you're interested in participating -- and we hope you are --,  please let Fr Michael know by sending e-mail, or by calling the church at 440-235-4558.
